Khamedriah Grimes, LPCA

My name is Khamedriah Grimes, and I received my Masters of Education and Education Specialist in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University. As well as the learned ability at a young age and receiving a Bachelor's degree in Spanish, I want to utilize my bilingualism in working with Spanish-speaking clients. I have the passion of working with children who are experiencing life transitions, difficult situations, or environmental stressors that cannot be processed in traditional talk therapy but instead by practicing the use of play in a therapeutic setting. It is an honor to be able to use said play as the language children have when they are trying to process what is happening around them. As well, I have a passion for working with diverse populations and cultural backgrounds, with advocating for minority populations in need of a voice that has once been silenced.

In the time I spend with you, your children, and your family, I want to be able to address the specific needs that are to be addressed while also taking into account any societal factors that need to be identified. Taking on an integrative approach of meeting the client where they are at, acknowledging any barriers, and working alongside the client in their journey for where they see themselves in the now to the future. It is easy to see how hard things can be at the start of therapy, but it is the journey along the way that learning who you were at the beginning is a different version of you after you take that first step.
