COUPLES THERAPY

Gottman:
The Gottman Method is a structured approach to couples therapy developed by John
and Julie Schwartz Gottman. It is based on extensive research into what makes
relationships thrive or fail. The method focuses on improving communication, increasing
emotional connection, and resolving conflicts effectively. Key components include
building a strong foundation of friendship, managing conflicts with healthy
communication strategies, and creating shared goals and meaning. The Gottman
Method aims to help couples strengthen their relationship by enhancing understanding,
intimacy, and trust.

Eclectic Couples Therapy:
Eclectic therapy is a form of psychotherapy that adapts to the unique needs of each
couple, depending on the problem, the treatment goals, and the couple’s expectations
and motivation. An eclectic therapist draws from a variety of disciplines and may use a
range of proven methods to determine the best combination of therapeutic tools to help
a couple. In effect, an eclectic therapist customizes the therapeutic process for each
couple by using whatever form of treatment, or combination of treatments, has been
shown to be most effective for a particular problem.
